Some people are artists, some are photographers, others simply take pictures. I tend to fall into this third group. Apart from taking pictures I also sell cameras for a living.
I take pictures of all kinds of things and have never really settled on a favorite subject or style of photography. Perhaps because I've never found the time to exercise my craft or let my creative juices flow for long enough to find something more interesting. I enjoy band/gig shoots as I like the music and the crowd yet I still seem to be able to get some good shots in the mix. These days I find myself spending far to much time playing with and selling cameras than I do actually taking photos, which is a bit sad. I'd like to find more time for photo fun but I don't really see it happening in the near future or perhaps at least until the kids have grown up a bit more. | Shooting almost entirely digital these days also has its drawbacks as it is so easy to simply discard an image I'm not completely happy with. The almost obligatory reliance on digital post production has taken away some of the magic I used to associate with photography. After almost 20yrs of working with Photoshop I'm now reluctant to even open the program. The recent small revival of film sales and use has been fun to watch as a new generation of kids discover this old "film stuff". Having recently acquired a new camera I'm finding a little more inspiration, along with having purchased my daughter her first decent camera so I'm determined to get back to taking pictures. Except for a couple of specific photos, what you will find here are some of those images "I'm not completely happy with", the ones that got away so to speak ... |
